PROJECT OVERVIEW

We had the opportunity to plan a tactical launch campaign for Valio, focusing on their Herkku product family’s chocolate novelties. Valio wanted to communicate the intense taste, delicious genuine high-quality ingredients, and the suitably sized portion size. Furthermore, they aimed to convey that it tastes bigger than it is. To demonstrate all this in an extraordinary way, we created a 3D animation where an entire planet is made out of soft and fluffy chocolate mousse. Our goal was to showcase the airiness and fluffiness of the mousse in both close-ups and wider shots. The project was commissioned by Bob the Robot.

3D CHOCOLATE MOUSSE COMMERCIAL - TECHNICAL EXECUTION

We did the project was using 3D animation. Utilizing high-end computer simulations, we were able to create and animate the interaction of the spoon and chocolate mousse. A very specific challenge for us was in nailing the scooping of the mousse, to make it look delicious and realistic in terms of texture and specific airiness. We achieved the final end result with careful lighting, cinematography and compositing work.

PRE-PRODUCTION AND LOOK DEVELOPMENT FOR A 3D CHOCOLATE MOUSSE COMMERCIAL

It was extremely important that the mousse had the right texture and provided a mouth-watering effect to the viewer. Therefore, we gave some extra care to the look and feel of the chocolate mousse in this commercial. Moreover, the actual 3D simulation of the spoon scooping the mousse was, without a doubt, a challenge. To illustrate the process, we will share some materials from the research and development stage of the production. For a high-end 3D chocolate mousse commercial, it was essential for us and the client to have an iterative workflow. In this case, a good example of an intermediate version of the commercial can be seen in one of our previz versions below.
