We produced a branded entertainment project for Rovio’s iconic Angry Birds brand, creating a 10-episode 3D animated YouTube series titled Slingshot Stories. With tens of millions of views on YouTube, this project has become a fan favorite and a stellar example of branded entertainment at its finest.

The legendary flock is on the move! We were thrilled to collaborate with our friends at Rovio to celebrate Angry Birds’ 10th Anniversary. This significant milestone for the iconic game was marked by producing branded entertainment for the IP in the form of a lively animated YouTube series, Slingshot Stories.

PRE-PRODUCTION FOR BRANDED ENTERTAINMENT
Rovio entrusted us with the scripts for the series, and our task was to transform them into a compelling visual format. We created storyboard images using a precise and detailed style that emphasized the “acting” aspects of the animations. Each character’s well-established persona and character design in the franchise guided our approach, ensuring we captured their unique performances perfectly. Through careful iterations, the storyboards became invaluable tools that streamlined the animation production process.

ANIMATIC PRODUCTION
Thanks to the detailed storyboards, animatic production was both efficient and exciting. We focused on refining storytelling, comic timing, sound effects, and character “dialogue,” which consisted of simple grunts and utterances. These animatics served as a clear blueprint for the 3D animation team, enabling quick turnarounds and seamless collaboration.
BACKGROUND AND PROP DESIGN FOR BRANDED ENTERTAINMENT
In animated series production, every element in the script requires design—from characters and backgrounds to props and effects. Rovio provided us with their exceptional character assets, leaving us to design numerous backgrounds and props. Depending on the scene’s needs, these assets were integrated as either 2D or 3D elements.
FINAL LOOK DEVELOPMENT FOR THE 3D ANIMATION
Our team meticulously developed the final look of the episodes, blending stunning 3D modeling, polished animations, and seamless compositing with high-quality effects. The sound design and music added the final touch, bringing each story to life in vibrant detail.
