2D Character Animation: Pirkka Ampparit Kukkis

We continue our series of animated commercials for the Pirkka Ampparit family of cold sweets. This time, we introduce two new characters and products to the family! Using a combination of 3D graphics and 2D character animation, we brought these delightful characters and products to life.

PROJECT OVERVIEW

Summer is buzzin’! We had the pleasure of working with the awesome hive of creatives at TBWA\Helsinki on this sweet animation for K-Ryhmä’s Pirkka Amppari. The bee family is growing! Kukkis and Toukkis are the latest ice cream cone product additions and Kirppu and Kukkis are the new characters introduced to the series of animations we have made.

TECHNICAL EXECUTION: 2D CHARACTER ANIMATION

Our main challenge was to animate the existing characters from the product package design. Using 2D character animation techniques, we aimed to stay faithful to the original character design while adding movement. By mixing 2D puppet animation with frame-by-frame methods, we preserved the characters’ original look and infused them with personality.

TECHNICAL EXECUTION: 3D PRODUCT ANIMATIONS

All product images in the commercial were created using 3D graphics. Placing these products alongside 2D animated characters, we ensured they complemented each other. We applied minimalistic 3D animation to the product images to make them look appealing and delicious, and then animated them in 2D to match the characters’ style.

2D CHARACTER ANIMATIONS

Here we have all the characters from the Amppari family. Introducing Amppari, Kukkis, Leppis, Murkku, Toukkis, Koppis and Kirppu!

VERTICAL VERSIONS FOR SOCIAL MEDIA AND DOOH USE

We designed the animations in a modular fashion, allowing us to easily create vertical versions for social media and Digital Out Of Home purposes.
